NEW replacement BMW SMG III position sensor rebuilt by our technicians to replace frayed wires commonly found on shift position sensor strip.
This sensor is located on top of transmission.
Common fault codes that can be seen as a result of a failed position sensor are:
4F80
4F82
4F85
This is a normal failure point with the transmission and we highly recommended repairing this if transmission is removed or being repaired for any other type of service. Typical failure modes could be:
Car stuck in gear
Erratic shifts
Transmission not engaging certain gears
